Minimum system requirements for a central database server
- The essential requirement is to have a dedicated server. Virtualization is not recommended as it has proven to be counterproductive.
- Based on Firebird and software development technology, the following is not recommended:
- file shares or any other MS services except RDP
- real-time antivirus
- on-line backup or imaging software etc.
- running Windows updates
- CPU: Intel Xeon E3 or E5 (non-threaded versions are OK)
- RAM: 8GB or more
- HDD: SSD recommended. All SSDs should be enterprise level certified by the manufacturer.
- OS: WIn7 64 Pro is OK, File system access should be managed by an FTP server (for example FileZilla) to transfer backup files to the external company backup solution.
- TCP/IP based LAN
1 SSD for the OS, 2 SSDs for the database in a RAID array. 128 GB per hard drive, minimum.
Minimum system requirements for a workstation (store level – off-line system)
- Operating system: Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista/7;
- The minimum hardware requirements are based on the operating system. Please, refer to www.microsoft.com. But the minimum is CPU 2 GHz (dual-core), 2 GB RAM and 5 GB hard drive space (10GB recommended);
- TCP/IP based LAN
Online synchronization requirements
- TCP/IP based network infrastructure
- Static IP address (or a VPN fixed IP address) on an external office server;
- 3050 and 9060 ports access on an external office server and a central office server;
- 6030 port access on a central server.
